DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, August 22nd\, we will be taking a break from our usual political discussions to dedicate an evening solely to personal safety training. This event is open to the public\, and we want to extend a warm invitation to you and your loved ones to attend.\nPlease note that this is not a political event\, and there will be no mention of political activities or recognition of elected officials or candidates. Instead\, we have gathered public safety professionals to offer you valuable training in several crucial areas:\n\n– Civilian Response to an Active Shooter Event (CRASE)\n– Threat Reduction Training (TRT)\n– Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)\n– Residential Target Hardening / Residential Crime Prevention\n– Home Defense Planning / Family Safety and Surety Planning\n\nThe event will take place at the Washington County Public Safety Training Center. We are also considering live-streaming the classes to benefit those who are unable to attend in person.\n\nThis training session is designed with your safety and security in mind. It’s our way of giving back to the community and providing you with valuable knowledge to help keep you and your loved ones safe. SUMMARY:WCRC May Meeting - featuring Berney Flowers
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the North American Rod & Gun Club to hear from one of Maryland’s great patriots and author of Black Values Matter\, Berney Flowers. \nBerney ran for US Congress in Maryland’s 2nd District. He was assigned to the US Air Force’s “Air Staff” as the Pentagon was attacked on Sept 11\, 2001. He retired from the US Air Force after nearly 21 years of active duty\, having deployed to Iraq\, Afghanistan\, Ukraine\, and “visiting” twenty-two countries and forty-three states in the performance of his duties. After his Air Force retirement\, Berney worked as a project manager in the banking industry. In 2009\, he returned to DoD as a civil servant\, where he was part of USCYBERCOM’S initial staff. He later served as NORAD & USNORTHCOM’s Senior Technical Advisor at Fort Meade. Before retiring from DoD\, he participated in refugee resettlement efforts for Afghans\, Haitians\, and undocumented migrants in defense of the US Southwest Border. In 2021\, Maryland’s Governor appointed him to the District 9 Judicial Nominating Commission\, Howard County Maryland. He recently authored the new book\, “Black Values Matter”.
