Social Club

At 6:45 PM the monthly meeting was called to order by President, Matt Breeding which was at the North American Rod and Gun Club

 Prayer was led by Craig Michel and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by County Commissioner Randy Wagner.

The Club’s Treasurer, Mr. John McElroy, reported confirmation of the presence of a quorum.

The Club’s President, Matt Breeding recognized both the elected officials and candidates for office that were present for the meeting. 

The Treasurer’ss report was discussed, and Derrick Harvey made a motion to approve, and seconded by Central Committee Member, Adam Greivell seconded it, and it was approved unanimously.

The secretary’s minutes had been posted on the website and Central Committee Member Alan Matheny made a motion to approve it and it was seconded by the Club’s Treasurer, Mr. John McElroy and it was approved unanimously.

Matt discussed the fact that at the Home Show at HCC this year recruited:

  • 4 new Republicans
  • 5 new Members joined
  • 2 new Sponsors signed up

At 6:50, Matt introduced the Guest Speaker, Mr. Bernie Flowers, a retired Lt. Colonel US Air Force Lt. Colonel as well as a candidate for the US Congress in 2022.  He is also the author of the book “Black Values Matter.  

Bernie gave both an entertaining and informative talk about those that honor us with their service to the Nation as well as talking about research data that indicate among minority groups that typically vote Democrat hold values that are more in line with the Republican Party.  He spoke until 7:45 PM. 

President Breeding announced:

-The Concealed Carry Weapon Class will be set up soon for new attendees and for renewals in June and August and Matt will send out an email with more details.

– Matt recommended that we look for a movie entitled “The Natural Family Strong” on Amazon.

– The Eisenhower Dinner will be coming up on October 14, 2023, and will be held at the Fountain Head Country Club.  The speaker may be Lt. Gov. Winton Sears.   The tickets will be $75.00 per person.

John Hose made a motion to adjourn the social club meeting and it was seconded by Duane Enderle and was approved unanimously by the group.

Political Action Committee (PAC)

At 7:55, Matt called to order the Washington County Republican PAC meeting.

Matt gave everyone a “Thank You” for the Unity Dinner, which made approximately $14,000.

The Treasures report was reviewed, and a motion was made for approval by Derrick Harvey, and it was seconded by Central Committee member Adam Greivell. 

Matt stated that we must unite as a Club in purpose with the Central Committee and the Club should and must support the fundraising goals of the Central Committee. Ideally, both the Club PAC and the WCRCC should set a goal to raise $50,000 each before the end of the year.   

Club Member Duane Enderle expressed concern that both of the early voting centers in Washington County are located within the City of Hagerstown Property.  A healthy discussion followed and it was agreed that the more rural areas such as Hancock, Boonsboro and Smithsburg would be better served is one of the EV sites were in their area, especially in Hancock.

Matt asked Derrick Harvey to come forward and speak and Derrick came forward and stated that we need more people to volunteer with our projects.  The Club is will have a consolidated calendar of events to present at the June meeting.

Raffle to win Gift cards was won by Will Kesler Sr.                                                                                                                                                                                         50/50 was won by Duane Enderle                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       At 8:40 Alan Matheny made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and Matt adjourned it with unanimous approval.

The next meeting will be held on June 21, 2023 at the North American Rod and Gun Club at 6:30 PM
