Washington County Republican Social Club
Summary of the November 21, meeting of the Republican Social Club
6:32 PM the gathering of the Washington County Republican Social Club was called to order by Matt Breeding, the President of the WCRC which was held at the Williamsport American Legion.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Tom Langston
The Prayer was done by Charles Burkett.
Matt recognized all those who have currently been elected and all who are in office.
Business discussions:
- A Quarum was confirmed by the Club Treasurer, John McElroy.
- Adam Grivell announced that he is no longer serving on the Central Committee. The new leader will be Beth Harvey. And he commented that “She will be a great leader”. Adam also thanked the members of the Social Club for being very active in this election.
- Mark was announced as the new secretary for the Central Committee.
- Matt stated that the minutes of the club had been posted on the website and asked if they were approved. A motion was made by Dr. Zentmyer to approve the minutes and it was seconded by John Gundling and they were unanimously approved by the club.
- Matt then reported the financial report and a motion was made by Will Kesler and seconded by Dr. Zentmyer and was unanimously approved by the club.
- Matt discussed Sherry’s situation and how the G.O.P. can help her.
- Matt also said that his term as President of the club will expire 2025 and so will the Treasurer’s position, John McElroy. It was suggested that we develop a nominating committee and Mark will chair the committee. Names will come up in February and we will vote.
- Concealed Carry Weapon classes were announced, dates to be determined.
- Gun Raffle tickets are on sale and winners will be announced on December 20th at the Christmas Party.
- Possible date for Outside Music Fest is temporarily set for June 14, 2025. This will be an event when Alleghany County, Fredrick County and Washington County are coming together to present this event.
Guest Speakers announced:
Matt introduced the guest speaker Sheriff Chuck Jenkins from Fredrick County, who was re-elected this year.
Sheriff Jenkins discussed how crimes have increased in Fredrick County and so far this year they have had over 702 felonies. He stated that the Biden administration has allowed the entrance of the highest rate of illegal immigrations. Chuck has been to the border twice and he said it was a “horrible situation”. He also stated that Fredrick is the fastest growing county. Question and Answer time.
Matt introduced Al who moved here from Arizona and worked as a Border Patrol officer. Al stated that Santuary cities actually destroy lives. He then had questions and answer time.
Closing:
The next meeting will be January 23, 2025 at 6:30 and the Christmas Party will be on December 20, 2024 at the North American Rod and Gun Club. A motion was made by Will Kesler to close the meeting, so it was adjourned at 8:30 by Matt Breeding, President of WCRC.
